Emma

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. As a young girl, she relocated from London to Oxfordshire where she attended the Dragon School. From the age of six Emma was aware she would like to be an actress. For many years she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught the art of acting and dancing. At the age of 10, she had already taken part in numerous Stagecoach productions and plays. The casting process began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by agents via their Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been selected for the roles. She was cast alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. The film beat all previous records on opening day and weekend numbers, and was the most-recorded 2001 movie. The film received praise from experts, and also by the performances of its three young starlets. The Daily Telegraph, an important British newspaper, called Emma's acting "amazing". Emma's performance was recognized and won five awards later in the film.
